TV spot
"…students can move as fast as they are able or as deliberately as they need to…"
Hope Academy, the on-campus school of the Presbyterian Home for Children,
was founded in 1997 to fulfill the educational needs of residents of the Home. In 2004, Hope Academy opened its doors to the community and began accepting private day and residential students. From there, it expanded to become an exceptional school offering specialized instruction for students with special needs ranging from difficulties in achievement due to learning disabilities or ADHD, to those who have simply fallen behind for any number of reasons.
Today, more than 90% of Hope Academy's faculty hold advanced degrees - 100% love teaching and possess vast experience in working with special circumstance students! Both students and teachers alike take advantage of Hope Academy's average class size of ten students with a student/teacher ratio of 6 to 1. Gifted students also excel in the small classroom setting with the personalized level of instruction and the early enrollment opportunities available through Central Alabama Community College.
Hope Academy's expectations are to prepare students for their post-secondary choices, to help ensure their road to success begins prior to high school graduation, and to help students choose options that match their talents and abilities.

Residential
Education Program
To enhance our strong tradition of directing young people toward realizing their full potential, Hope Academy accepts private residential students into our educational program. Our residential students are able to take advantage of the structured environment, close supervision, and developmental activities the Home offers outside of the Hope Academy school hours. Residential school can be an excellent option for students desiring to transition smoothly into life on a college campus or whose academic performance and behavior suggests the need for a change of environment.
Pre-Admission
Requirements
Before being admitted to Hope Academy, prospective students are assessed, at a minimum, in the areas of reading and mathematics achievement. Before being admitted into the residential program, students may be required to complete a battery of psychological assessments. These assessments are designed to let teachers and program administrators know exactly where the student ranks in many different areas of learning, as well as, provide the information necessary for a customized instructional approach.
