Admissions & Referrals
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ – Matthew 25:35-40
Secure Dwellings Program
We are all blessed with the opportunity to reach out to families in need with the love of Jesus Christ. Our newest program, Secure Dwellings, is a wonderful opportunity for us all to show this love to homeless minor children and their female caregivers. The Presbyterian Home provides these families with a “safe haven” in the form of transitional housing. Residents will be given basic needs support, a safe and clean living environment, job training, and other training toward successful and independent living.
Women eligible for the program must be at least 21 years of age and have at least one dependent minor child (under the age of 19 years). Women must also be able to pass a background check, be in need of transitional housing, struggle with financial instability, and be eager to receive the training and guidance necessary to become financially independent and to acquire permanent housing. If you know of a family that could benefit from our Secure Dwellings Program, please contact the Secure Dwellings Program Director at 256-362-0296.
Transition to Adult Living Program
The Transition to Adult Living Program is a ministry focused on helping young women ages 19-24 successfully transition to adulthood. These young ladies are struggling to attain independence because of financial instability and lack of family support. Program participants are given group and individualized training concerning budgeting, financial aid, job interviews, and even safe boundaries within relationships. We meet each young woman where she is on her life journey and assist her in mapping out and reaching her goals.
Program participants must be female, within 19-24 years of age, able to pass a background check, and have a personal drive to meet goals for the future and achieve independence. If you would like to refer a young lady to our Transition to Adult Living Program, please call the Transition to Adult Living Director at 256-362-1438.
Moderate Residential Care Program
The Presbyterian Home for Children provides moderate (or therapeutic) residential care. Moderate Residential Care (for girls only) is a therapeutic treatment program that addresses the needs of girls ages 12 to 17 years old who have suffered some of the most severe trauma and/or abuse. The program’s treatment team is supported by a therapist, a social worker and a behavioral consultant who works closely with families to try and heal wounds caused by neglect and abuse.
Parents or social workers considering whether the Presbyterian Home is the right place for their child should contact the office of Social Services via phone at 256-362-6601.
